Last day of racing
April 24th 2007
Last day is all strategy. We’re sitting in 4th. They took my fastest qualifying with Todd’s, averaged them together, multiplied that by 15 laps and that’s the time we had to get. We got 5th. We also blew up the motor in qualifying. Luckily, we had extra cars on the trip that the staff drove. We put our numbers on it and off we went. We ended up 4th overall!! Sorry I didn’t bring home the gold.
Kart racing didn’t go as planned…

Two thirty minute qualifying rounds to determine starting order. We finished 3rd on second heat putting us overall 6th to start race. Todd started the 1st leg. During the 50 min race each driver had to drive twice. Pulling into pit while the race continued. The race starts Todd moves to 3rd place out of turn three when all of sudden the motor dies! Two laps go till he realized the gas had been turned off! Finished last place. They were nice enough to give us our qualifying place as 6th. Points place overall: we’re sitting in 4th. We need 1st today to pull off a 1st!

I know! I know what everyone’s thinking! And believe me I made Todd take four different pictures and neither one made me look any more masculine. I’m sure the tights don’t help!
We bombed another event. If anyone knows how to use a polar watch then you’ll understand. The strap goes around your chest sending info to your watch with height, weight and age. My in-zone heart rate had to stay 166 to 180 the whole 4 1/2 mile run. Well, 10 other teams smoked us. We got 11th and that put us in 4th overall, 80 points behind 1st place with USA 2 in 1st and USA 3 in second. Two races left: karts and track. We’ll see what happens.
Today is a fun day; going on a 4 x 4 tour. The winner of the fitness race, Kai, is a triathalon athelete and was Lance Armstrong’s teammate in the Tour de France.
